This wonderful Buddha head is characterized by a serene yet remote expression that is typical of early Tang dynasty religious images. Sculptures of this style are found in the Longmen cave temples in Henan Province and may have been the source for this piece. Hand-carved from Granite, each head stands approximately 6 inches tall. Due to nature of the stone and of the hand-carving process, the exact size and coloring may vary slightly.
