About the Artist:
As a child, I loved everything outdoors...scenery, “pinecones”, rocks, taking photographs. I started collecting rocks on my outdoor treks--just any rocks I found, and my love of the variety and history of them stuck into adulthood.
Now I look for “rocks” at the Tucson Gem Show, other gem and mineral shows, and online. With my fine art background, designing necklaces, earrings, bracelets is a natural “fit”. Working with colors, and my love of “Nature”, assist me in design and color combinations, as well as overall looks.
I first began designing jewelry over six years ago when I realized my purchased and gifted necklaces had no matching earrings. What was I going to wear for earrings? And I didn't have necklaces that “went” with my clothing colors and styles. Living in the Southwest, how could I NOT attend the largest gem and mineral show in the world? Thus began my designing gemstone jewelry.
I use 0.925 sterling silver and/or 14 K GF for my “metal”, as in "findings", such as silver or gold beads, clasps, ear posts and hooks, and wire. There are times when I only find items that are “plated” in sterling or gold, but I shy away from the “cheaper” metals.
I am an artist on canvas and other mediums, too, as well. I am always getting ideas from the wonderful things around me, including people. Some people have given me ideas for creating a “piece” for them, whether it's art or jewelry, and I strive to make satisfied customers.
Growing up in the Northwest and now living in the Southwest many opportunities have, and continue to arise for my being inspired and creating lovely works of art, whether it is fine art or jewelry.
